Secretary DFS chairs meeting to discuss issues related to financing in Infrastructure Sector

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Gaps in the availability of financing and barriers against the use of Municipal bonds were among the issues discussed today in a meeting related to financing in the infrastructure sector, an official statement said.
M Nagaraju, secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), chaired the meeting.
The official statement said: “ Some of the key issues discussed were gaps in availability of financing, barriers to the use of Municipal bonds, enhancing capacity building and training and better availability of data on defaults and recoveries. Various measures/recommendations were put forward on issues related to financing in the infrastructure sector.”
It was agreed that the National Bank for Financing and Infrastructure Development will be consulting all concerned stakeholders and submit a report to the Department of Financial Services within 15 days.
The meeting was attended by senior management of major Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, Development Financial Institutions and NBFC-IFCs.
The National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID), established in 2021, is an Indian government-backed development financial institution (DFI) providing long-term financing for infrastructure projects, particularly those requiring non-recourse financing. UNI SAS SSP
