Seven districts bordering Nepal on high alert

Lucknow, Sept 10 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh police in collaboration with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) is on high alert along the Nepal border following violent anti-government protests in that country, police sources said today.
According to the police, security has been beefed up in all seven border districts, including Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar and Maharajganj.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna said the situation was being closely monitored at every level. "Security has been beefed up in all seven districts, with round-the-clock patrolling and strict checking at entry points. We are in constant touch with the SSB to ensure safe return of Indian nationals from Nepal and prevent any anti-social element from taking advantage of the unrest across the border," he said.
