Shakti Dubey tops UPSC 2024; Harshita Goyal gets 2nd rank

New Delhi, April 22 (UNI) Shakti Dubey has topped the Civil Services Examination, 2024, while Harshita Goyal has secured second position, the final results of which were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) here on Tuesday.

Dongre Archit Parag has secured third rank while Shah Margi Chirag and Aakash Garg have secured fourth and fifth positions respectively, an official statement said.

A graduate in Biochemistry from Allahabad University, Shakti Dubey qualified the examination with Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject.

A total of 180 candidates have successfully qualified for the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), while, 55 candidates have been appointed to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and 147 have been selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS).

A total of 1,009 candidates have been recommended for appointment, including 335 from the general category, 109 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 318 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 160 from the Scheduled Castes (SC) and 87 from the Scheduled Tribes category.

In addition, 605 candidates have been selected for the Central Services Group ‘A’ while 142 candidates have been chosen for the Group ‘B’ Services, the statement said.

The statement said that in accordance with Rule 20 (4) & (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2024, the Commission is maintaining a consolidated Reserve List of 230 candidates.

Out of the top 25 candidates, 11 are women while 14 are men.

The recommended candidates also included 45 persons with benchmark disability, comprising 12 orthopedically handicapped, eight visually challenged, 16 hearing impaired, and nine with multiple disabilities.

The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024 was conducted on June 16 , 2024. A total of 9,92,599 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 5,83,213 candidates actually appeared in the examination.

A total of 14,627 candidates qualified for appearance in the written (Main) examination which was held in September, 2024. Out of these, 2,845 candidates qualified for the Personality Test of the examination.

The Commission has set up a 'Facilitation Counter' near the examination hall on its campus, where candidates can obtain information or clarification regarding their examinations or recruitment on the working days between 10 am to 5 pm in person or over telephone Nos. 23385271 / 23381125 / 23098543.

Results will also be available on the UPSC website i.e. http//www.upsc.gov.in. Marks will be available on the website within 15 days from the date of declaration of result.

NIA court sentences key accused in Pakistan Taliban linked terror radicalisation case to seven yrs RI

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has convicted and sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) a key accused in a terror radicalisation and recruitment case linked with the proscribed Taliban and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist organisations.
The NIA special court in Bengaluru, Karnataka, has also imposed a fine of Rs.63,000 on Maharashtra resident Hamraz Worshid Shaikh, who pleaded guilty during the trial that began in April 2026.
