Shops and establishments legally permitted to operate 24 hours: Pune Police Commissioner

Pune, June 7 (UNI) All authorised and licensed shops and establishments are legally permitted to operate 24 hours a day, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar clarified on Sunday.
Speaking after a special coordination meeting with traders' organisations, Kumar said, however, that stalls, handcart vendors, hawkers, paan shops, and similar businesses are allowed to operate until 10 pm.
It may be mentioned that in an effort to bring major cities in Maharashtra in sync with the international trend of reaping the benefits of a “night economy”, the state government had clarified in October last year that shops and restaurants can do business 24x7 under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017.
