SI accused in Satara doctor suicide case dismissed from service

Mumbai, Nov 5 (UNI) The Maharashtra Police today sacked suspended Sub Inspector Gopal Badane in a major fallout from the Satara doctor suicide case which put the spotlight on alleged harassment of government medical officers and political pressure to issue false medical certificates.
In a suicide note written on her palm, Dr Sampada Munde posted at the Phaltan sub- district hospital had alleged rape and mental harassment by the PSI as well as political pressure besides intimidation by a civilian.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had recently directed the state DGP to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a woman police officer to conduct a detailed probe.

1 pc stamp duty surcharge waiver for Project-Affected Persons purchasing urban poor housing: Dy CM Shinde

Mumbai, Nov 18 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today announced that project-affected persons in the Thane Municipal Corporation limits, who are purchasing individual housing units under the JNNURM and BSUP schemes, will be given a 1 percent waiver on the stamp duty surcharge while executing their housing agreement. Additionally, a nominal amount of 100 will be charged for the duplicate document, he said.
