Siddaramaiah accuses BJP of stirring Maddur violence

Bengaluru, Sept 9 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today accused the BJP of deliberately attempting to disrupt communal harmony in the state, particularly following the recent violent incidents at Maddur in Mandya district.
Addressing reporters, Siddaramaiah said, "The BJP’s intention and work is to disturb peace. Earlier, they had organised a Chamundi Betta Chalo rally, where RSS members and others from different regions had come to Mysuru. They all gathered and worked to disrupt peace. Now in Mandya’s Maddur, violence has taken place. Before the BJP even said anything, we had already arrested 21 people. Be it Muslim, Christian, or anyone else, we will take action according to the law."
The clashes in Maddur occurred during the Ganesh idol immersion procession on the night of September 7. Reports indicate that the procession escalated after stone-pelting incidents near a mosque, triggering tension between communities.
