Sinner breaks Djokovic record in Rome

Rome, May 14 (UNI) Jannik Sinner has broken Novak Djokovic's all-time record of successive match wins at ATP Masters 1000 tournaments by recording the 32nd straight victory of his historic streak to reach the Italian Open semi-finals.

The Italian world number one overpowered 12th seed Andrey Rublev 6-2 6-4 to continue his bid to join Djokovic as only the second man to win all nine Masters 1000 titles - the sport's highest level below the Grand Slams.

After being beaten by Julien Alfred in the 200m in Rome on Thursday, U.S. athletics star Jefferson-Wooden was back to winning ways at the Bauhaus-Galan in a time of 10.84 seconds,

Teenage star Cooper Lutkenhaus wins on Diamond League debut

Stockholm, June 7 (UNI) Teenage 800m star Cooper Lutkenhaus backed up his gold medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships with a statement victory on his Diamond League debut here on Sunday.
The U.S. 17-year-old produced a sensational kick on the home straight to chase down Marco Arop, the Olympic silver medallist and former world champion, and win in a time of 1:42.70 in his first 800m race outdoors this season.
Canada's Arop was second in 1:43.11 at the Bauhaus-Galan, while Slimane Moula of Algeria was third in 1:43.41.

The Olympic and world champion broke the world record at last year's Bauhaus-Galan and had hoped to do so again in front of his home crowd at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
