Six held for vandalism at Asarfi Hospital and road blockade in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Nov (UNI) Police have arrested six suspects involved in vandalism at Asarfi Hospital and blocking traffic on the 8-lane road following a fatal road accident on October 24, 2025. Raids are continuing to apprehend other suspects identified in the case.
Giving details on Tuesday, Dhanbad DSP (Law and Order) Naushad Alam said after a road accident killed one person and left another injured, both victims were brought to Asarfi Hospital for treatment.
Soon after, a group of miscreants reached the hospital and allegedly vandalized equipment worth ₹40-50 lakh in the emergency ward and abused the medical staff. They later blocked the road, causing major traffic disruption.

Odisha raises DA for State employees to 60 percent

Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) The Odisha government on Friday enhanced the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees by two percentage points, raising it from 58 per cent to 60 per cent.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The revised DA will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026.

Odisha to begin door-to-door voter verification from May 30

Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) Odisha will launch a door-to-door voter verification drive from May 30 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls scheduled by the Election Commission of India, state Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference here, Gopalan said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would visit households across the state between May 30 and June 28 for distribution and collection of enumeration forms.
The revision exercise will be conducted with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.

No act of hostility can intimidate Nagas: NSF

Dimapur, May 15 (UNI) Disturbed over the recent killings and abduction of some Naga civilians in some districts of Manipur, the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) Friday said, “No act of hostility can intimidate the Nagas.”
Condemning what it called “outrageous” and “inhuman ambush” on the church leaders of the Thadou Baptist Association between Kotzin and Kotler in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on May 13, it said three church leaders were killed and five others grievously injured in the ambush while they were returning from Churachandpur.
