Southern California braces for flash flooding, debris flows as storm approaches

Los Angeles, Nov. 15 (UNI) An unusually strong storm system is expected to bring widespread rainfall to Southern California through Sunday, likely triggering flash flooding and debris flows, the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) said Friday.
The period of most concern is Friday night through Saturday night, according to the NWS.
Forecast models indicate that the plume of heaviest rainfall will set up directly over Los Angeles and areas immediately to the west, including communities around Malibu and the Palisades that were hard hit by last year's wildfires, the NWS said.
