Stalin jumps to Vijay's defence, urges TN Guv to take immediate steps to form new govt

Chennai, May 8 (UNI) Coming to the defence of beleaguered TVM Founder and Chief Minister-elect Vijay, whose party has emerged as the single largest party in the recent Assembly polls, but fell short of a simple majority by 11 seats, outgoing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin on Friday evening urged Governor R V Arlekar to take immediate necessary steps to form a new government in accordance with the Constitution and avoid any further delay.
In a post on X, the results of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections have been announced, and the Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the list of Members of the Legislative Assembly elected by the people.
The existing Legislative Assembly has already been dissolved, and the Governor has issued the proclamation to that effect, he pointed out.
