Team Mohota & Hemant Jalan enter Team Gold Cup Finals in National Bridge championship

Kolkata. Dec 8 (UNI) Unfancied Team Mohta caused a big upset as they entered in the final dethroning last years' champions Indian Railways " A" by 173-121 Victory Points (VPs) in the penultimate round of the Team Gold Cup in the Ashok Ruia Memorial Winter National Bridge Championship here on Monday.
Team Motha comprising Anurag Mohota, Basant Mohota, Biswajit Poddar and Sambhu Nath Ghosh maintained their lead over favourites India Railways and finally made it to the summit clash.
Mohota will take on strong contender Team Hemant Jalan, who also caused a mild flutter outplaying former title holders Formidables by 119 -95 VPs.

Melbourne, Jan 20 (UNI) Leylah Fernandez and Sloane Stephens made early exits from the 2026 Australian Open after suffering first-round defeats in the women’s singles on Tuesday.
Fernandez, the 22nd seed, was beaten 6-2, 7-6 by Indonesia’s unseeded Janice Tjen in a straight-sets upset. The victory marked only the second Grand Slam win of Tjen’s career and came on her debut appearance at the Australian Open.
