Teenager armed with knife shot by police in northern Australia

Sydney, June 11 (UNI) A teenage girl has been shot by police in northern Australia after allegedly making threats while armed with a knife.
Police were called to reports of a 17-year-old girl armed with a knife who was making threats at a hotel in Townsville, over 1,000 km northwest of Brisbane in the state of Queensland, shortly before 5:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
A police statement on Wednesday said that it will be alleged in court that the girl came at officers and was subsequently shot in the abdomen.
