Hyderabad, May 6 (UNI) Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Telangana caught a Panchayat Secretary red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 in Veljal village of Talakondapally mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
The accused officer, M. Sharath Kumar, had allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 from the complainant for uploading site details online and issuing a "No Due Certificate" and "Property Valuation Certificate", the ACB said in a release here on Wednesday.
Following the complainant's request, the accused reportedly reduced the demand to Rs 20,000 and accepted the amount as illegal gratification at around 3 pm on Tuesday.
The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount from the possession of the accused officer during the trap operation.
The agency stated that the accused had performed his official duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
The accused was arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
Further investigation is underway.
