Telangana CEO stresses secure, citizen-friendly access to voter registers at IICDEM-2026

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan 21 (UNI) Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy on Wednesday underlined the need for easy yet secure access to voter registers, saying it is crucial for electoral transparency and strengthening public trust, while cautioning that openness must be balanced with robust data-protection safeguards.
Speaking at the three-day India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM-2026) held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, he said voters, political parties and civil society organisations depend on accurate and timely voter information to verify personal details, plan electoral activities and monitor the integrity of elections.
In his presentation on “Ease of Access to the Voter Register”, Sudarshan Reddy highlighted mechanisms adopted by election authorities, including online voter-lookup services, controlled-access kiosks and limited-detail voter lists, to ensure information is available in secure and user-friendly formats.
