Telangana govt empowers women’s groups with bus ownership scheme

Hyderabad, Nov 18 (UNI) In a landmark step towards its mission to make one crore women millionaires, the Telangana government has rolled out an unprecedented scheme enabling women’s groups to own and lease buses to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC).
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who launched the initiative on International Women’s Day earlier this year, described it as a model of economic independence and dignity for women.
Under the scheme, 600 buses will be purchased through SERP and handed over to Mandal Mahila Samakhyas, making Telangana the first state in the country where women’s associations directly operate as RTC rental partners.
