Telangana Govt sanctions Rs 122 crore for free fish fry distribution

Hyderabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Telangana fisheries chairman Mettu Saikumar today said the state government has approved the implementation of the free fish fry and fingerlings distribution scheme for 2025–26.
The government has sanctioned the purchase and distribution of 90 crore fish fry at a cost of Rs 122 crore, as per the orders issued yesterday. The scheme, which has been in operation for the past several years, aims to boost fish production and support the livelihoods of fishermen across the state.
According to an official statement, the Fisheries department will invite tenders over the next month and finalise them by September 15.
