Traders and doctors in state living under fear: Babulal Marandi

Ranchi, Oct 13 (UNI) Jharkhand BJP State President and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi on Monday strongly criticized the state government over the deteriorating law and order situation, alleging that traders and doctors are living under constant fear due to rampant extortion and rising criminal activities.
Marandi said that the extortion racket has gone unchecked across state. “From Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Jamshedpur to our capital Ranchi the business community is being terrorized in the name of a criminal reportedly hiding abroad,” Marandi said.
He added that during his recent visits to various districts, several businessmen confided that they were being extorted for amounts ranging between Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore, but most were too afraid to disclose their identities. “The situation has worsened to the extent that even a reputed doctor in Ranchi has been threatened with a multimillion-rupee ransom demand,” Marandi stated.
