Tribal culture has special place in cultural richness of Odisha : CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, June 18 (UNI) Tribal culture has taken a special place in the cultural richness of Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday said
Inaugurating the state-level Adivasi Shakti Samavesh organized at Chhau Podia, Baripada on the occasion of the first year of the state government, the Chief Minister said to achieve the goal of a prosperous Odisha in the next 11 years, the tribals and scheduled castes who constitute 40 percent of the state, must be developed.
He said there is a unique fusion of culture and tradition in this “Adivasui Shakti Samavesh,organized under the auspices of the State Government’s Department of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development and Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare.
This convention, Majhi said, has created an opportunity to bring together all the tribal communities of the state and introduce them to each other’s culture.
The main objective of this gathering is to ensure that all the problems and needs of the tribal community are addressed,the Chief Minister said, adding that we are committed to improving their education, health, and social security.
The Chief Minister said it is a matter of pride for us that seven tribal community MLAs from Mayurbhanj are representing this district today.
When it comes to honor, the daughter of a common family from Mayurbhanj, despite many
obstacles, is today the first citizen of the country, glorifying the country as the President.
Majhi further said under the Chief Minister's Tribal Livelihood Mission, the livelihood and
economic condition of 1.45 lakh tribal families has improved through agriculture, irrigation
and animal husbandry.
He said to make education more accessible, for the tribal students, the Shaheed Madho
Singh Hatha Yojana has been launched at the secondary and higher secondary levels.
An outlay of Rs. 100 crore has been made for the Shaheed Laxman Nayak Adarsh Ashram
Vidyalaya Yojana to upgrade residential schools into modern educational institutions.
PM-Janman Yojana is being promoted in the state with the aim of making it a champion of
'Developed Odisha, Developed India'. The campaign will reach 2,94,712 people, especially
the Backward Classes (PVTGs), living in 1679 villages in 14 districts of the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has laid the foundation stone for the Tribal
Culture and Heritage Bhavan and the Tribal Language Institute at an expenditure of Rs 100
crore and Rs. 50 crore respectively.
On the occasion Majhi awarded individuals from various tribal communities who have excelled
in the field of tribal folklore, culture and tradition
School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gand,Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra, Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram SinghKhuntia, MPs
and MLAs from Mayurbhanj district are among others attending the convention.
