Trump-Putin meet generates anxiety in Ukraine amid possibility of land swap pact

Kyiv, Aug 12 (UNI) Ahead of the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, where the two leaders will discuss a settlement for the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as other issues, uncertainty has gripped Ukraine amid President Donald Trump’s announcement that some of the territory captured by Russia will be kept by Moscow.

This particularly concerns ceding the as-of-yet uncaptured areas of Donbas and Luhansk to Russian control, something which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has outrightly refused to accept.

Beijing, May 11 (UNI) Beijing has strongly opposed unilateral sanctions by the United States targeting Chinese companies over alleged links to Iran, calling the measures "illegal and not supported by international law."
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday that China firmly rejects unilateral sanctions imposed by the US that are not authorized by the United Nations Security Council.

EU to release first tranche of €90 billion Ukraine loan next week
