Trump says Modi is 'great Prime Minister': Modi says he 'deeply appreciates, fully reciprocates'

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) US President Donald Trump has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘’great Prime Minister’’ with whom he will always be friends.
Prime Minister Modi said he deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates President Trump's sentiments.
The statement by the US President is significant as it comes after his verbal tirade against India and Prime Minister Modi in the recent past over India buying oil from Russia. President Trump and his Trade Advisor Peter Navarro have accused India of fuelling Ukraine war by buying Russian oil.
The statement also comes after India warmed up with China and Russia with Prime Minister Modi attending the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) at Tianjin in China on August 31-September 1. US had said India should be with the US and Ukraine and not with China and Russia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that he deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates President Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of India-US ties, an official spokesman said here.
The Prime Minister posted on X "Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of our ties. India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership,"
Earlier President Trump said ‘’I will always be friends with Modi, he is a great Prime Minister. India and the United States have a special relationship. There is nothing to worry about."
