Trump suggests that his opinion of Taylor Swift has hurt her reputation

Los Angeles, May 17 (UNI) US President Donald Trump made a weird suggestion just hours after his return from the Middle East, insinuating that his opinion of country-pop star Taylor Swift has hurt her reputation.

"Has anyone noticed that, since I said "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT," she's no longer "HOT?"," Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social on Friday, as he flew back from the Middle East to the US after the first major overseas trip of his second term.

A White House official told CBS News: "As a business and entertainment mogul President Trump is highly qualified to comment on the rise and fall of various celebrities," including Swift.

This came just an hour before the US President attacked music legend Bruce Springsteen after the latter criticised Trump during his concert in Manchester, England, telling audiences that the US “is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration."

Trump fired back at the ‘The Highway Patrolman’ singer, calling him “Highly Overrated”, and said that he “never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics.”

He also bombarded the musician with personal attacks, saying that Springsteen is “not a talented guy - Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country."

While Taylor Swift had endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential run, and is an active Democrat supporter, the singer has not released any particular rants against Trump, having kept a low profile since the end of her Eras Tour.

The US President's digs at Swift and Springsteen came at the at the close of a four-day-long high-stakes diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, which focused on regional alliances, sanctions policy and economic cooperation.

During the trip, Trump held talks with Gulf leaders, pledged to lift sanctions on Syria in an unexpected policy shift, and announced a series of economic agreements with the Arab partners.

The tour was not without controversy. Just before it began, reports surfaced that Qatar would be donating a Boeing 747 for the president’s use—sparking renewed concerns over ethics and influence. POTUS defended the arrangement, dismissing suggestions of impropriety.

While his remarks on Swift and Springsteen grabbed headlines, the trip’s broader implications—particularly the softening stance on Syria and closer ties with Gulf monarchies—are likely to attract greater scrutiny in the weeks ahead.
