Turkish survival drama ‘Fragments From The East’ stuns IFFK audience

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 12 (UNI) Turkish filmmaker Erkan Yazici’s visually arresting survival drama 'Fragments From The East' left a powerful impression on viewers on the opening day of the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Screened under the World Cinema category at Sree Theatre, the 131-minute film—shot at a staggering 2,700 metres in Turkey’s harsh winter and wolf-inhabited terrain—earned wide acclaim for its breathtaking visuals and unflinching portrayal of human endurance.
Starring Guldestan Yuce and Turgay Atalay, the film traces the perilous journey of a woman fleeing war and a fugitive Russian General as they navigate unforgiving snow-clad mountains.
Festival-goers praised the film’s immersive cinematography, which relies entirely on real locations to heighten its sense of authenticity.
The stunning frames, critics noted, blur the line between fiction and reality, making the experience feel less like a movie and more like a visceral survival encounter unfolding before the audience.
