U.S. launches large-scale strikes against IS targets in Syria

Washington, Jan 11 (UNI) U.S. Central Command said Saturday that its forces conducted large-scale strikes against multiple Islamic State (IS) targets across Syria.
"Today, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S. Central Command forces, alongside partner forces, conducted large-scale strikes against multiple ISIS targets across Syria," the command posted on X.
The command said these strikes were part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, which was launched and announced on Dec. 19 in response to a deadly IS attack on U.S. and Syrian forces in Palmyra, Syria, on Dec. 13. In the attack, a lone IS terrorist carried out an ambush, killing two U.S. soldiers and one U.S. civilian interpreter.

Tehran, Jan 14 (UNI) Iranian authorities are rapidly proceeding with launching a new comms project, engineered specifically to impose a total internet blackout on the country for as long as it deems fit, in a bid to fully control information flow and establish an iron chokehold on all essential services, as some parts of the country are still able to get internet service, while others are using patchy net services via accessing Starlink satellites.

US and Armenia unveil TRIPP framework to boost South Caucasus trade

New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) The United States and Armenia on Tuesday published an implementation framework for a US-backed regional transit initiative aimed at boosting connectivity and trade in the South Caucasus, the US State Department said. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in Washington to announce the release of the implementation framework for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a project intended to establish unimpeded multimodal transit routes through Armenian territory.
