U19 WC: Sri Lanka set to dominate Japan in Windhoek showdown

Windhoek, Jan 16 (UNI) In what promises to be a one-sided contest, Japan U19, on Saturday, will take on a red-hot Sri Lanka U19 in the 8th match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026.
The spotlight heading into this clash is the dramatic contrast in form and preparation between the two teams, setting up a classic narrative of a powerhouse versus an underdog.
Sri Lanka comes into the tournament on the back of strong performances in warm-up matches. Wins against South Africa U19 and Afghanistan U19 showcased the team's readiness and depth, with Vivan Chamuditha, Dulnith Sigera, and Kavija Gamage emerging as standout performers. Their form, coupled with a balanced bowling attack led by Chamika Heenatigala, Malintha Silva, Kugathas Mathulan, Viran Chamuditha, and Jeewantha Sriram, makes Sri Lanka U19 the clear favorites in this encounter.
