UN human rights chief urges influential states to prevent escalation between Iran and Israel

Geneva, April 14 (UNI) Volker Türk, the UN human rights chief, has called on influential states to prevent any further worsening of the already highly delicate situation between Iran and Israel.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Turkey expressed deep concerns over the potential humanitarian and human rights fallout of this escalation and urged all parties involved to take immediate measures to de-escalate the situation.

Afghan govt reject US allegations of women rights violations as false

Kabul, Nov 11 (UNI) The Afghan Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice said on Monday that the claims put forth by the US Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) about alleged women’s rights violations were "far from the truth."
The latest quarterly SIGAR report claimed that the new law from the Ministry of Vice and Virtue restricts human rights and fundamental freedoms in Afghan society.
