UNGA session to vote on New York Declaration seeking two-state solution for Israel-Palestine

New York, Sep 12 (UNI) The UN General Assembly is set to vote on Friday on the "New York Declaration," a resolution aimed at reviving the two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict while excluding Hamas from any role in Gaza's future.
The text, tabled by France and Saudi Arabia, explicitly condemns the Hamas-led assault of 7 October 2023, demands the release of all hostages, and calls for the terror group to relinquish control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority, and disarm.
"In the context of ending the war in Gaza, Hamas must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority, with international engagement and support, in line with the objective of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State," the text reads, as per the Times of Israel.
