UP: More Than 11.68 Lakh People Become Literate Under Nav Bharat Saksharta Abhiyan

Lucknow, June 8 (UNI) In its bid to take education to the last person in society and to realize the goal of having an illiteracy-free state. the Uttar Pradesh government's Nav Bharat Literacy Programme is emerging as a medium of positive transformation in the lives of lakhs of people, officials here today said.
Officials said that under this campaign, which is aimed at making illiterate persons above 15 years of age literate, more than 11.68 lakh people have been made literate in the state from 2022-23 to 2025-26. The programme is strengthening self-reliance, awareness, and social empowerment through education.
Under the centrally sponsored Nav Bharat Saksharta Abhiyan, illiterate citizens above the age of 15 are identified and made literate with the support of volunteers and trained master trainers. Along with teaching beneficiaries reading, writing, and numeracy skills, the programme also provides them with basic knowledge useful in daily life, enabling them to participate more effectively in social and economic activities. By making lakhs of people literate, the government is not only strengthening the fight against illiteracy but is also playing an important role in building a self-reliant, aware, and empowered Uttar Pradesh.
