Venkatesh Prasad sweeps KSCA, topples Brijesh Patel's grip

Bengaluru, Dec 7 (UNI) The winds of change swept through Karnataka cricket on Sunday as former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad stormed to victory in the fiercely contested Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, ending years of dominance by the Brijesh Patel-backed establishment.
Prasad, leading the Team Game Changers panel, defeated KN Shanth Kumar by a commanding margin in what insiders described as a referendum on the association's credibility and governance. Prasad polled 749 votes to Shanth Kumar's 588, signalling a decisive mandate for upheaval in an administration long accused of opacity and stagnation.
Backed by former India greats Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath, who had themselves steered KSCA from 2010 to 2013, Prasad rode into the election promising to tear down entrenched power structures, restore transparency, revive decaying infrastructure and return cricketing priorities to the forefront. Sunday's result now hands him the authority to translate rhetoric into action.
