Vijay walks the talk: Installation of TN's first coalition govt with Cong, VCK and IUML in the cabinet tomorrow

Chennai, May 20 (UNI) 'Share in power to allies' is no mere election campaign slogan of Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C Joseph Vijay as he walks the talk by inducting the allies – Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the IUML, into his Ministry on Thursday (May 21, 2026), marking the first ever coalition government in the political trajectory of Tamil Nadu.
The Lok Bhavan has announced that the swearing in of the new ministers is taking place at 10 am with many from the TVK also securing ministerial berths along with the MLAs of the allies, putting an end to the single party rule in the state, long dominated by the two Drarvidian majors, the DMK and the AIADMK, with coalition being an anathema to them.
Quite interestingly, the rebel faction of the AIADMK, led by C Ve Shanmugam, SP Velumani and C Vijayabhaskar, is unlikely to get representation in the current expansion following stiff resistance from the Left parties extending outside support to the government and also VCK, which have warned of reconsidering their decision to support if they were inducted.
