Maha: BJP leader seeks ban on non-Hindu contractors for Ganeshotsav works in Vasai-Virar civic body

Mumbai, Sep 11 (UNI) A controversy has erupted in the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) in neighbouring Palghar district over allocation of works related to the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival, with BJP group leader Ashok Shelke urging the civic administration not to award such contracts to non-Hindu contractors. In a letter addressed to the municipal commissioner, he demanded that various works required for the 10-day Ganesh festival be assigned only to Hindu contractors.
