Virat Kohli up to No 2 in ICC ODI rankings after South Africa heroics

Dubai, Dec 10 (UNI) India's Virat Kohli continued his resurgence in One-Day Internationals, rising two places to No.2 in the latest ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings released on Wednesday, just eight points behind top-ranked Rohit Sharma.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Kohli, 37, amassed 302 runs in India's 2–1 ODI series win over South Africa and was named Player of the Series. His unbeaten 65 in the Visakhapatnam finale helped him close in on Rohit, who retained his No.1 position after scoring 146 runs across the three matches.

Cuttack, Dec 10 (UNI) Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma boosted his chances of securing India’s gloves for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with an impressive all-round performance in India’s commanding 101-run victory over South Africa in the first T20I.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Jitesh contributed valuable late runs in a brief finishing cameo before taking four catches behind the stumps, falling just one short of equalling MS Dhoni’s national T20I record of five dismissals in a match.

Rafa Marquez set to take charge of Mexico after 2026 World Cup

Mexico City, Dec 10 (UNI) Rafael Marquez will take over as manager of Mexico's national team after next year's FIFA World Cup, the head of the country's football federation said.
Ivar Sisniega told media that incumbent manager Javier Aguirre would depart following football's showpiece event, which Mexico will co-host alongside the United States and Canada next June and July. The tournament will run from June 11 to July 19.

India beat Uruguay in shootout after last-second equaliser

Santiago (Chile), Dec 10 (UNI) India survived a last-second equaliser to defeat Uruguay 3–1 in a shootout after a 1–1 draw in their 9/12 classification match at the FIH Hockey Junior Women's World Cup 2025.
According to Olympics.com, Manisha (19') scored for India before Justina Arregui (60') converted a penalty stroke with just two seconds left, pushing the match at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional into a shootout.
