WI coach urges team to impose themselves on England batsmen

WI coach urges team to impose themselves on England batsmen

Nottingham, July 16 (UNI) The West Indies cricket team is determined to bounce back from a dismal performance at Lord's, where they suffered a crushing innings and 114 runs defeat to England in the first Test of their ICC World Test Championship series.
Coach Andre Coley has identified intensity in the field as a key area for improvement ahead of the second Test at Trent Bridge, starting Thursday.
Coley urged his team to impose themselves on the England batsmen, acknowledging that they fell short in this aspect at Lord's. Despite the loss, team spirits remain high, and Coley believes that the experience gained in England will help his young and emerging side to perform better in the next two matches.
The West Indies are currently sixth in the World Test Championship standings and need positive results to stay in contention. Coley drew inspiration from his team's resilience in their recent series against Australia, where they bounced back from a similar loss to win at the Gabba.
"We can learn from that experience and produce a similar result in Nottingham," Coley said. "The process of bouncing back and composing ourselves is more powerful than winning. It shows that we can come back in a series and be competitive, potentially setting it up for a game-three decider."
'With acclimatisation to English conditions and time in the middle, Coley expects his team to perform better at Trent Bridge. The West Indies will be seeking to level the series and keep their World Test Championship hopes alive."
