Yuva Bharati Stadium in turmoil as fans vent frustration over Messi’s brief visit

Kolkata, Dec 13 (UNI) Chaos unfolded at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan, as irate fans broke chairs and threw plastic water bottles and other items onto the ground on Saturday after being unable to catch a proper glimpse of soccer magician Messi, despite having paid astronomical amounts for tickets.
The Messi show here, part of the first leg of the Argentine soccer star's four-city India tour, descended into a virtual free-for-all as Messi left the ground after a brief 22-minute stay. Organising officials had earlier promised that Messi would be on the ground for over an hour.
Even during his brief stay, Messi was surrounded by security personnel, organisers and others including state sports minister Arup Biswas, preventing the fans - many of whom had arrived from various parts of West Bengal, and even beyond - from getting a proper glimpse of the soccer star.
