Chandigarh, May 6 (UNI)Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has launched a scathing attack on the Punjab government following two major explosions in the state.
Addressing the media, Majithia condemned the blasts near BSF Chowk in Jalandhar and outside the Khasa Army Camp on the Attari-Wagha road in Amritsar, calling them a complete failure of the state’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
The Akali leader emphasized that, as a sensitive border state, Punjab remains a constant target of attempts by Pakistan to disrupt peace, placing an even greater burden of responsibility on the Chief Minister.
He alleged that the current administration has proven utterly incapable of handling these critical security challenges.
Majithia, specifically pointed to the Jalandhar incident, noting , "Officials initially dismissed it as a battery explosion before a militant organization claimed responsibility, an occurrence he cited as evidence of a massive intelligence lapse."
He questioned how such incidents could take place in highly secure zones housing major BSF, Army, and Punjab Police installations.

Majithia further stated that the second blast outside the Amritsar Army Camp underscores the gravity of the deteriorating security situation.
He reminded the administration that previous attacks on police stations and railway tracks had been ignored, suggesting that the government has failed to learn from past lapses.
Additionally, he criticized the Director General of Police (DGP) and the police administration for allegedly prioritizing political activities over maintaining law and order, noting that industries are fleeing the state. At the same time, traders continue to receive extortion threats.
Expressing deep concern for national security, Majithia called for the immediate intervention of the Governor and the President of India. He warned that if stern measures are not taken promptly, the instability in Punjab could have severe repercussions for the entire country's safety. The SAD leader concluded by asserting that decisive action is necessary to prevent further chaos in the state.
