CENTCOM redirects 51 vessels from attempting to access Iranian ports amid tightening grip on Iranian waters

Washington, May 5 (UNI) The US Navy said its blockade around Iran is tightening, with American ships now turning back dozens of merchant vessels attempting to access Iranian ports or transit the country's nearby waters.
According to CENTCOM, 51 vessels have been "directed to turn around or return to port" as of Tuesday, as Washington continues to tighten its grip on Iranian waters.
The blockade, imposed in mid-April, is aimed at cutting off Iran's oil exports, and prevent it from using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage, while also geared towards pressurising Tehran into wilfully renouncing hostilities, and sign a long-term peace agreement in Washington's favour.
