Chandigarh, Sep 7 (UNI) BJP leader and former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Saturday mocked the Congress over its first list of candidates for the state Assembly poll, saying the grand old party has chosen candidates against whom there are ongoing cases.
Vij said it only reflected the mindset of the Congress..
Responding to questions from the media about Congress releasing its first list of nominees for the October 5 elections, Vij commented sarcastically that the state's principal opposition party has given tickets even to people facing legal cases.
He quipping that the Congress seemed to prefer candidates who are likely to go to jail. To buttress his point, Vij referred to Surendra Pawar, who is in jail, and has been given a ticket.
This, according to Vij, reveals Congress's thought process.
He said recently the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached properties belonging to former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, yet he has also been given a ticket. Vij implied that other similar questionable candidates might emerge from the rest of the list.
Commenting on the possibility of an alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Vij said there is still some uncertainty. He said former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has asked AAP to provide candidates as Congress is running short. Regarding AAP's decision to contest 50 seats, he remarked that it's a democracy, and anyone can run in elections. UNI GS SSP
