Cyient Semiconductors completes USD85 million majority investment in Kinetic Technologies

Hyderabad, April 8 (UNI) Cyient Semiconductors on Wednesday announced the successful completion of its USD 85 million majority-stake investment in global power semiconductor solutions provider Kinetic Technologies, marking a significant step in its strategy to build a globally competitive semiconductor platform from India.
With the investment, Kinetic Technologies joins Cyient Semiconductors as a revenue-generating global custom and Application-Specific Standard Product (ASSP) company, bringing more than 100 silicon-proven intellectual properties and over 250 high-volume custom and ASSP products across power management, protection, display power and interface solutions.
The move strengthens Cyient Semiconductors’ ambition to establish a scaled semiconductor innovation platform anchored in India while serving global markets.
In a release, the Hyderabad-based company said the partnership aligns with a long-term strategy to capitalise on a USD 44 billion global market opportunity in power and compute infrastructure.
By combining Cyient Semiconductors’ spec-to-silicon engineering expertise with Kinetic Technologies’ power management and protection IC portfolio, the integrated platform is expected to enhance support for global customers through broader design resources and improved operational capabilities.
Kinetic Technologies will continue operating under its existing leadership, with strategic oversight from Cyient Semiconductors, while maintaining continuity in engineering and customer operations.
Speaking on the development, Suman Narayan, CEO of Cyient Semiconductors, said the investment accelerates the company’s ambition to build a globally competitive semiconductor innovation engine from India.
“The partnership positions us to drive the next wave of intelligent power semiconductor solutions across critical markets by combining Kinetic’s leadership in power and protection ICs with our custom silicon and ASSP expertise,” he said.
Kin Shum, CEO of Kinetic Technologies, said the partnership would strengthen the company’s ability to scale globally, expand engineering capacity and manufacturing in India, and accelerate its R&D roadmap.
The company stated that the transaction reinforces India’s momentum under the India Semiconductor Mission to become a global hub for semiconductor innovation, high-value chip development and manufacturing.
