England take 2-0 series lead as Salt, pacers rout India

Nottingham, July 7 (UNI) England produced a ruthless allround display to crush India by 125 runs in the third T20 International at Trent Bridge here on Wednesday, as Phil Salt's sparkling half-century and a devastating pace attack helped hosts lead 2-0 the five-match series in emphatic fashion.
Opting to bowl after winning the toss, India failed to make early inroads as Salt and Jos Buttler launched England with a 43-run opening stand. Buttler hammered 36 off 21 balls, striking four fours and two sixes before Prince Yadav delivered a superb yorker that crashed into the stumps.
Salt then took charge, punishing anything loose with authority. He smashed Varun Chakaravarthy for two consecutive fours and a towering six, brought up his ninth T20I fifty in 35 balls, and continued the assault with successive sixes and a four off Axar Patel before eventually falling for a superb 70 off 44 balls, decorated with seven fours and three sixes.
