Group clash in Tripura village leaves 5 injured, internet suspended

Agartala, Jan 10 (UNI) Five people were injured and at least four houses were torched by a mob following an alleged incident of extortion involving a truck driver transporting smuggled timber in Shimultala area under Fatikroy in Tripura's Unakoti district on Saturday, police sources said.
A large number of police, TSR, Assam Rifles, and CRPF personnel have been deployed in the affected area. District Magistrate (Unakoti) Tamal Mujumdar and Superintendent of Police Abinash Rai reached the scene to ease the tension.
To prevent further escalation rooted in community disputes, the district administration took the precautionary step of suspending internet services for two days.
