Jurel hits debut hundred, third by India keeper in 2025

Ahmedabad, Oct 3 (UNI) In a moment of sheer delight and determination, Dhruv Jurel etched his name into Indian cricket history as he became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century, achieving the milestone on the back of a solid knock against the West Indies on Day 2 of the ongoing Ahmedabad Test at Narendra Modi Stadium here today.
Remarkably, he joins a select group of five wicketkeepers who claimed their maiden Test hundreds against the Caribbean side, a list that includes Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh Engineer, Ajay Ratra, and Wriddhiman Saha.
Jurel's hundred also marked the third century by a designated wicketkeeper for India in 2025, following two by Rishabh Pant. This is the most by Indian wicketkeepers in a calendar year and the joint second-highest for any side, behind South Africa's four centuries by keepers in 2013.
