Kareena Kapoor likely to join forces with Salman Khan in Raj & DK’s superhero film

Mumbai, May 1 (UNI) Kareena Kapoor is reportedly in advanced negotiations to star opposite Salman Khan in Raj & DK’s upcoming big-budget superhero spectacle, a high-concept action entertainer that is already shaping up to be one of the most ambitious mainstream Hindi films currently in development.
Although the actress hasn't formally signed the project, she has responded enthusiastically to her role and verbally expressed interest.
Salman is believed to have personally reached out to her, speeding up the conversation. Although there have been reports about Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the female lead, Kareena remains the frontrunner for the female lead, according to Variety India.
If it materialises, this would mark Khan and Kapoor's fifth collaboration -- their first in over a decade since Kabir Khan's 2015 drama “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. Their other memorable collaborations include “Kyon Ki...,” “Main Aur Mrs Khanna” and “Bodyguard.”
They share a great rapport on and off screen and have tried to work together again for years, and this project could potentially be the one that finally brings them together on-screen.
Produced by Atul Agnihotri and Mythri Movie Makers, the yet-untitled film will reportedly present Khan in an unfamiliar and inventive avatar, that of an ageing superhero who is reluctantly drawn back into action due to unforeseen circumstances, eventually finding himself entangled in a far larger, high-stakes conflict.
The film is being designed as a big-scale spectacle, blending action with Raj & DK’s signature style of sharp humour and stylised storytelling.
The film will mark the director duo's return to theatrical feature filmmaking nearly a decade after “A Gentleman” (2017) and following a successful career in the streaming space with titles like “The Family Man,” “Farzi,” “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and “Guns And Gulaabs.”
The 60-year-old actor is expected to start shooting around October–November 2026 after completing his current film with Vamshi Paidipally, which is being shot in Mumbai and is scheduled for an Eid 2027 release.
Meanwhile, Khan's “Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace” remains in limbo, with no clarity on its new release date since its postponement in March.
Apart from that, Kapoor will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar's “Daayra,” which is gearing up for a theatrical release later this year. The actress was last seen in the 2024 box office blockbusters "Crew" and "Singham Again."
