Living isn't easy, but dying should be dignified: Wadettiwar slams Maha govt over crematorium shortage

Mumbai, July 8 (UNI) Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Tuesday criticized the Maharashtra government over the shortage of crematoriums in rural areas, highlighting the grim reality that nearly 20 per cent of villages across the state still lack basic cremation facilities, forcing families to endure hardship and indignity even in death.
Speaking during the ongoing monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Wadettiwar made an emotional appeal to the government, saying, "If the government cannot ensure a life of comfort for its citizens, it must at least guarantee that their final journey is handled with dignity."
Calling the issue a matter of fundamental human dignity, the senior Congress leader urged the government to earmark 3 percent of District Planning Committee (DPC) funds specially for the construction, development, and maintenance of crematoriums in rural areas.
