Moscow, Oct 30 (UNI) Russia has imported 126,000 tonnes of wine from the European Union since the beginning of 2024, which is the lowest level of imports in the last 20 years, Sputnik calculated on Wednesday based on data from the European Statistical Office (Eurostat).
In the first eight months of 2024, the EU exported 125,700 tonnes of wine to Russia, which is 25% less than in the same period last year. At the same time, imports were the lowest since 2004, when Russian companies imported 87,000 tonnes of wine.
According to statistics, the top five main wine suppliers to the Russian market in January-August were Italy (49,000 tonnes), Lithuania (18,000 tonnes), Latvia (14,000 tonnes), Poland (13,000 tonnes), and Portugal (10,500 tonnes).
