Security tightened ahead of Operation Blue Star anniversary

Chandigarh, June 3 (UNI) Punjab Police have intensified security arrangements in Amritsar ahead of the June 6 observance of Ghallughara Divas, which marks the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, with senior officials reviewing preparedness and deploying additional forces across the city and surrounding areas.
Special DGP Praveen Sinha visited Amritsar on Wednesday to assess the security measures in place and held meetings with officials from various security agencies. He also interacted with police personnel deployed on duty and issued necessary instructions to ensure the smooth conduct of religious and related activities.
Addressing the media, Sinha said that, as in previous years, religious and political activities witness a significant increase in the days leading up to June 6. Keeping this in view, the Punjab Police has established a comprehensive security grid in coordination with multiple agencies to maintain peace and public safety.
