Switzerland enter first World Cup quarterfinal since 1954

Vancouver, July 8 (UNI) Switzerland held their nerve in a dramatic penalty shootout to beat Colombia 4-3 after a goalless draw following extra time and reach the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals for the first time since hosting the tournament in 1954.
After 120 minutes failed to separate the two sides at BC Place, goalkeeper Gregor Kobel emerged as Switzerland's hero, saving Cristian Hernández's penalty before Ruben Vargas calmly slotted home the winning spot-kick to seal a 4-3 shootout victory.
The result set up a mouth-watering quarterfinal clash for Switzerland against Argentina in Kansas City.
