Teachers’ forum calls for assembly march, demands job reinstatement

Kolkata, Sept 3 (UNI) Members of the Unemployed Qualified Teachers Forum have announced a march to the West Bengal Assembly tomorrow, pressing for the reinstatement of their jobs in state-run schools.
The demand comes in the wake of an April 2025 Supreme Court verdict that led to the dismissal of nearly 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff across government schools in the state.
Forum members have also written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee, urging the government to convene a special session of the Assembly to discuss the issue.
