Three abducted NPCC workers in Tripura released on ransom

Agartala, Dec 24 (UNI) Three NPCC workers, who were abducted while doing the wire-fencing work along Indo-Bangladesh border in the eastern part of Tripura and held hostage in NLFT hideouts at Chittagong Hill Tracts of southern Bangladesh, were released last evening after 16 days, following payment of ransom, officials said.
The families of the abducted labourers of National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) claimed that the contractor of the project paid Rs 12 lakh for safe release of the workers after a series of negotiations over the past two weeks.
Initially, the NLFT militants had demanded ransom of Rs 3 crore for their release.
