Tripura student bodies call off road, rail blockade after assurance

Agartala, Feb 12 (UNI) The indefinite road and rail blockade started by Tripura student bodies on Monday morning demanding the authorities allow the students of Kokborok language to write their coming board examination in Roman script, was called off after the state government acceded to the demand.
A media statement said both central and state governments have agreed to allow the students of Kokborok language to write their coming secondary and higher-secondary examinations in Bengali and Roman scripts.
Also, the main opposition TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Facebook live announced that the highest authority of the state and the appropriate level at the centre has informed him that students of Kokborok language can write the exams in both the scripts as on earlier occasions. He described it as a victory of the indigenous communities.
