US to move UNSC Resolution on Hormuz, warns Iran of controlling global waterway

Rome, May 9 (UNI) The United States is set to move a resolution at the United Nations Security Council against Iran's attempts to control the Strait of Hormuz, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warning that allowing Tehran to dominate the critical shipping lane would set a "dangerous and illegal" global precedent.
Speaking to reporters in Rome after meetings with Italian officials, Rubio said Washington was awaiting Iran's response on nuclear negotiations and hoped it could pave the way for serious diplomacy.
"We should know something today," he told reporters in Rome. "The hope is it's something that can put us into a serious process of negotiation."
