Yomif Kejelcha breaks half marathon record

Valencia (Spain), Oct 27 (UNI) Ethiopian runner Yomif Kejelcha etched his name in the history books on Sunday by breaking the men’s world record at the Valencia Half Marathon, finishing the race in an astonishing time of 57:30.
This achievement comes just one second under the previous record of 57:31 set by Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda in Lisbon in November 2021.
Kejelcha’s remarkable performance marks the fourth world record established in Valencia over the past seven years, following the groundbreaking runs by Joyciline Jepkosgei (women's 2017), Kibiwott Kandie (men's 2020), and Letesenbet Gidey (women's 2021). It is worth noting that Abraham Kiptum also set a world record in 2018, but it was later annulled due to a doping violation.
